London-born defender Jovan Ivanisevic has been named to Canada's 26-man squad for the upcoming September and October international window. The 21-year-old centre-back is one of eight defenders selected by head coach Jesse Marsch for three friendlies.
Canada sit second in their World Cup qualifying group with four points from three matches. They will host Chile at BMO Field in Toronto on September 26 before facing Peru in Montreal on October 3. The window concludes with an away match against the United States in Minnesota on October 6.
Ivanisevic is a product of London's Alliance club and the TFC Academy system, having attended Mother Teresa high school. The 6-foot-3 defender made his senior professional debut in 2023 and previously represented Canada at the under-20 level two years ago. He is currently a starter for FK Sarajevo in the Bosnian Premier League, having joined the club on loan from Croatian side Istra 1961 last year. Ivanisevic also made 12 appearances for Bologna in Italy's Serie A during the 2025 season.
Marsch expressed enthusiasm about regrouping the squad after a significant summer. "We’re excited to get the group back together following a historic summer," the national team head coach said. He added, "This team left everything out there at the World Cup and now we get to do it again in front of the fans who were with us every step of the way."
The home match against Chile on September 26 is being billed as "The Homecoming" for the team. All three of Canada's matches will be broadcast live on TSN and streamed on OneSoccer. The squad announcement comes as Canada looks to build on recent form that includes two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five outings. Fans can view the team's upcoming fixtures and check the latest standings as World Cup qualifying continues.
