Veterans Junior Hoilett and Samuel Piette, each with 69 senior caps, are also included. Playing in Toronto and Montreal provides a chance for the team to reconnect with Canadian supporters and for long-serving players to be celebrated in their home regions. "After more than a decade of representing Canada, both players will have a special moment in front of supporters in their home regions," the national federation said, referencing Hoilett and Piette.

The team's current form shows two wins, one draw, and two losses from their last five matches, a run that includes a recent 3-0 defeat to Morocco in July. They currently sit second in their World Cup qualifying group with four points from three games, three points behind leaders Switzerland. Canada's next competitive fixture after this friendly window is the Nations League quarterfinal in November.

The match in Saint Paul on 6 October will be the 43rd meeting between the North American neighbours. Canada have won the last two encounters, both by a 2-1 scoreline, including the third-place match in the previous Concacaf Nations League.
