Jamie Knight-Lebel has been called into the Canada men's national soccer team squad, replacing the injured Alfie Jones for three upcoming friendlies. Canada Soccer announced the roster change on Monday ahead of matches against Chile, Peru and the United States.
Head coach Jesse Marsch confirmed the switch, noting he had just learned of Jones' injury. "He had just learned Jones had been hurt while playing for his club," Marsch said.
The 21-year-old defender, born in Montreal but raised in Bristol, England, is currently on loan at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell from Bristol City. Knight-Lebel has three senior caps, his most recent coming as a substitute in a 2-0 Gold Cup win over El Salvador in June 2025.
This call-up provides a fresh opportunity for the young defender as Canada prepares for a busy period. The team sits second in their World Cup qualifying group with four points from three games, three points behind leaders Switzerland. Their recent form shows two wins, one draw and two defeats from the last five outings.
