Canada men's national soccer team vice-captain Stephen Eustaquio missed training on Sunday.
What happened?
Eustaquio did not train with the team, three days after Canada's 6-0 win over Qatar. Canada Soccer did not provide a reason for his absence.
Why it matters for Canada men's national soccer team
Eustaquio has 58 caps for Canada and is a presumed starter in every game. He wore the armband for Canada in both World Cup matches, as Alphonso Davies recovers from a hamstring injury.
What comes next?
Canada faces Switzerland in their final group stage game. Alfie Jones, still recovering from an ankle injury, is unlikely to play. Davies took part in team training on Sunday, and head coach Jesse Marsch confirmed he will train with the team through the week.
